Very early in the season but a team that folks will want to keep an eye on is the Lady Kougars of Kadoka.
Earlier this week, Thursday to be exact the Kougars took down a White River squad, thought by many to be the tuffest in Region 7B. As she has done all year, junior Lavin Bendt went off.
The 5-foot-11 senior tallied 37 points (14-12) and a monstrous 15 rebounds as Kadoka pulled away late for a 60-51 win.
Kougars are 4-1 headed into the Holiday Break with just the season opening 44-75 loss to Faith, in Faith. Throw that game out as a first-game, on-the-road in a big-time tough environment and since then the Kougars have won four in a row.
Beat Jones County 48-29
Beat Dupree 79-57 (Bendt had 39)
Beat Philip 56-46
Beat White River 60-51
Bendt has been a terror our west scoring 25.6 ppg and 11.4 rpg.
But she has help
* Kaylee Eisenbraun shoots 47 percent from the floor and averages 10 points/5 rebound and 4.2 steals per game
* Senior Alyssa Civitak 8.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 5.4 assists per contest.
These Kadoka girls have been knocking on a state tournament berth in both basketball and volleyball. A lot of seniors and lot of upperclassmen on this squad would like nothing more than to reach the Big Dance…Tuff team and that win over White River suggests this team is going to pile up the dubs this season.
