Crow Creek vs. Pine Ridge, the RUBBER MATCH sends one team to the state tournament

Well, well, well....there will be a Native American team in the Class A state tournament. On Monday night, the Lady Chieftains rolled past McLaughlin, 69-45 to complete the last piece of the Sweet-16.

The Lady Chieftains, 16-4 on the season meet a familiar opponent, 17-5 Pine Ridge on Thursday, in Winner for the right to advance to next week's Class A state basketball tournament.

This will be the third meeting between these two South Dakota power-houses with the rubber-match deciding a state tourney appearance.

On Dec. 16 a red-hot Crow Creek squad thumped Pine Ridge in the finals of the Lakota Nation Invitational.

On Feb. 3, Laura Big Crow's Lady Thorpes returned the favor, and then some with an 82-49 beat down in Pine Ridge.

Something has gotta give!

In last night's 6A semis, Kaylee Wells got going early as the Lady Chieftains ended a brilliant career of McLaughlin's Tiara Flying Horse with that 69-45 win.

Equally impressive were the Lady Thorpes who crushed Winner, 69-38 on Saturday to earn their place in the Sweet-16.

Crow Creek earned the No. 6 overall Class A seed. Pine Ridge the No. 11 slot.
