Schuyler, Kuil TEARING up collegiate TRACK

By Rich Winter

It has been about a week now since I first saw that Dakota Wesleyan freshman and former Winner standout Samantha Schuyler doing well at Dakota Wesleyan. Schuyler had a solid senior campaign at Winner a year ago, believe she finished 9th in the 800 meters at the state meet and helped the Winner girls medal in the 4x800.

A good high school 400 and 800 meter runner, gotta say I was shocked to see her winning the 1500 event at the Jim Dutcher Memorial. Even more stunned to see that her time was 4:56...WHAT? and WOW, just WOW!

Winner freshman, Samantha Schuyler is absolutely tearing up the track for Dakota Wesleyan this spring. At the Jim Dutcher meet on April 22, Schuyler won the 1500 meters with a time of 4:56....If you convert that to 1600 meters, the distance girls run in high school, Schuyler's time converts to a 5:17...HOLAY. Schuyler, known more for her 400 and 800 meter running in high school has taken the leap into the mile.                           All season long, Schuyler has been lowering her 800 meter time...At the Dutcher meet she ran a 2:24. At the Mt. Marty meet three days later, Schuyler unleashed a lifetime best 800 meters, finishing 6th in 2:21....WOW.
