Was kind of wondering how the throwing events would go down at yesterday's Lakota Nation Invitational in Mission. Never seems like the big-guys get the attention they deserve for competing in some of the most technically challenging field events in Field and Track.
And so, as I was scrolling through my Facebook feed yesterday, came across CEB Throws/Football Coach Michael Scott's solo photo of junior, Kipp Red Dog, who won the Lakota Nation discus and finished a close second in the shot put.
Red Dog is a lineman for the CEB Braves football team and Scott is salivating over what a summer of off-season lifting and working out could turn this young man into.
Michael Scott - "Yeah, great kid. All Conference football player. Started both ways on the line. Yeah I coach him in the throws and football. Really a good kid. He'll be a guy barring injury I'm really going to push for All State next year for football. Passionate kid."
Red Dog will be looking to punch a ticket to the South Dakota Class A state track meet when he competes in the Region 6A meet next week.
Lakota Nation results, haven't seen them, but here are a few photos from the lens of one Kernit Grimshaw.
