Platte - It has been a very successful season for the PGDCWLC HONKERS. With a 9-2 seasons record, Jeff Kuiper's squad heads into Monday's Regionals (In Winner) to take on St. Thomas More.
They had to earn it to get there!
Knotted at 0-0 in their game with Gregory earlier this week after 8 innings, Dylan Mohnen scored the winning run as the Honkers advanced with the 1-0 win.
Big night for Mohnen as he started the game on the mound. He gave up zero runs on four hits over seven innings while striking out six. Gregory's Blake Boes was also superb on the mound. He went seven and a third innings, allowing zero runs on six hits, striking out 12 and walking zero.
Gregory: Max Klundt, Cade Fortuna, Dustin Frank, Matt Sinclair and Hunter VanNewinhuis each had hits for Gregory.
PGDCWLC - Kory Peters had two hits for the Honkers. Chandler Fredericton, Mohnen and Cole Nachtiagal each had a hit for the home team.
Winner/Colome advances with 11-1 win over Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman
Watched a good share of that game Wednesday on SPORTS-TICKET LIVE and came away impressed with a Winner/Colome squad that remains undefeated.
Ty Bolton got the start on the hill and the future Black Hills State football player was steady, solid, efficient and in control throughout...
One thing about Drew Weber's squads are when they start hitting the long-ball look out.
Early in the game watched an attempted steal from the opponent and Winner senior, Troy Lantz gunned him down with room to spare...
Should be a big day over at Leahy Bowl on Monday;
Winner/Colome vs. Lead/Deadwood and
Honkers vs. St. Thomas More....
Those games will be webcast at http://sportsticketlive.com
