Wow, you look up at the Region 1A boys race and there sits Donnie His Many Lightnings’s squad…Right now the Wambi have the highest seed rating in Region 1A, and they have the best record, a sparkling 7-1.
Tiospa Zina 44.8757 - 7-1
Aberdeen Roncalli 43.7146 - 6-1
Milbank 41.400 3-2
Groton Area 40.500 3-3
Sisseton 40.500 3-3
Redfield/Doland 40.000 3-3
Webster Area 37.600 1-4
Ya start poking around that Tiospa Zina schedule and are reminded the only time His Many Lightning’s squad has tasted defeat was back on Dec. 13 when No. 4 ranked Red Cloud SLIPPED by the Wamdi 78-76.
After that defeat to Red Cloud, Tiospa Zina beat Lower Brule 71-52. They also beat Little Wound (Hasn’t lost since LNI) 60-46, both at LNI.
Twelve point win over Hamlin 65-53
Beat Redfield/Doland 69-53
Beat Britton/Hecla by 24, 72-48.
While Tiospa Zina has been impressive led by Caleb White, Brian Dolan’s AR Cavaliers have played a very solid schedule and are flat out good.
Samiuela Mounga and Max Reede give Brian Dolan’s Cavalier squad size, speed and toughness at the guard positions.
Good wins over MOPO and Milbank early…
The most impressive part of the schedule was that west-river swing to tangle with Belle Fourche and STM.
Belle Fouche gave Red Cloud a good game a week ago and Dolan’s Cavaliers just pounded BF, 63-34.
The only loss on the year was the back-to-back where the Cavaliers dropped a 75-49 decision to a St. Thomas More squad that looks like at least a Class A semi-final worthy squad.
Cavaliers haven’t played in six days, last outing…68-45 over Redfield/Doland.
This is a heck of a Jan. 10 matchup for these two squads. Expect a Round-of-16 atmosphere in this one as the winner puts themselves into a great position for the overall No. 1 seed in the Region.
