So much basketball going on right now, wanted to give people a Heads-up on the schedule for the Sacred Hoops Basketball Classic that will take place on Feb. 9 at (Lower Brule and Stephan).

Was looking at the matchups this morning and not only are we going to host some great players, we are going to see some legit matchups, AND, both the Flandreau Indian and Winnebago (boys and girls) will be in attendance.

The event will split games between Lower Brule and Stephan

(Crow Creek has the best concession stand in the state, hands down)

Here are your matchups in Lower Brule:

Game 1: Sunshine Bible Academy vs. Wakpalas girls

Right out of the gate folks in attendance will get a good look at Sunshine Bible Academy junior, Lindsey Wilken who scores 22.6 ppg and leads the state in steals with 6.1 per game.

Game two features the Warriors of St. Francis Indian vs. the Wakpala Sioux. (Two old friends, Rhaecine Sam and Jeffrey Curry meet up and there has been some trash talked…

”First met Jeff at Gear-Up after blocking him multiple times and etc playing ball and now we finally have a rematch.”

2:30 p.m. - McLaughlin vs. FIS – Girls

4:15 p.m. - Little Wound vs. FIS – Boys

After the Flandreau Indian School girls and boys game the nightcap is Lower Brule girls and boys vs. Winnebago….WOW!

Six games in Lower Brule on Sat. Feb. 9

Here is the lineup for Stephan:

Noon – Dupree vs. Lyman - Girls

1:45 p.m. – Dupree vs. Oelrichs - Boys

3:30 p.m. - Edmunds Central vs. Takini - Girls

5:15 p.m. - Crow Creek vs. Oelrichs – Girls

7:00 p.m. - Crow Creek vs. Takini - Boys

All of these games will be live-streamed courtesy of Sacred Hoops & Big Sioux Media….

As we head towards a weekend of basketball galore, wanted to give a shout-out to Lyle LeBeaux’s Little Wound Lady Mustangs who sent shockwaves through the Region 7A girls field with a 78-67 win over the 8-2 Lady Thorpes of Pine Ridge.

With all the talk of Winner, Todd County and Pine Ridge, sometimes the rest of Region 7A doesn’t get talked about enough.

In addition to beating Pine Ridge, the LW squad beat a very good Kadoka squad in Kadoka.

Paula Yellow Boy is one of the best BIGS in the Region…The Mustangs play Kimball White/Lake in Madison.
