Well, we’re heading into the home stretch of the high-school basketball season, but before we get to the playoffs time to recognize some of the outstanding performances during the month of January.

Class AA boys: Sioux Falls Lincoln senior Jared Jaros

The month of January was a good one for Jeff Halseth’s Lincoln Patriots who rattled off six wins against elite competition.

If you don’t know about St. Thomas More 6-foot-6 junior Ryder Kirsch, brace yourselves, the next 15 months could be a coming-out-party for a tremendous football player (QB) and a big man with handles and range.

Jerome Nesheim’s club lost a ton of seniors to graduation, and yet, the Cyclones are 13-2 and ranked No. 3 in a LOADED Class B field.

6-1 during the month of January for the Cyclones:

Beat Wilmot, Beat Milbank, Beat a good Timber Lake team (61-41), Great Plains Lutheran, Groton, (Lost to Tea Area), Beat Madison and beat Deuel 65-35.

Prouty does it all this season and has become an elite scorer for Nesheim’s squad.

Class A No. 5 Tiospa Zina on Saturday and a good Aberdeen Roncalli team on Monday…
