McCook Central/Montrose News: Pulse off to quick start and Koepsell transfers

By Rich Winter

Just a few weeks ago we say McCook Central/Montrose junior Jacy Pulse was flying around the basketball court for Doug Durfee’s Fighting Cougars. MCM finished 4th at the Class A state tournament.

At a track meet this week Pulse broke the qualifying standard in two events, the 100 meters and high-jump.

100 meters: Pulse 12.74

High jump: 4’10”

Pulse has been a standout on the track for coach Jack Rasmussen over the last few years and she’s qualified for state in a number of events. Early in her track career, Pulse ran more of a 100/200/400 type runner but with Belle Fouche’s Shayla Howell (Wyoming) and Caelyn Valandra-Prue, along with Parker’s Karley Peters, Pulse switched her emphasis to the 300 hurdles. With Howell at Wyoming and Valandra-Prue at White River, we could see Pulse do almost anything this season.

This past collegiate season, David Moe’s Dakota State basketball team finished 4-25. Freshman Jesse Giles had a terrific season (2nd-team, North Star All-Conference) and she’ll be getting some help next season.

2018, Class A player of the year, 6-foot-2 Morgan Koepsell announced this week that’s she’ll be transferring from Black Hills State to Dakota State.
