Track Tuesday: Ipswich Lady Tigers coming on like a freight train

As we head to region track meets this week the Ipswich Tiger girls are littering the list of automatic qualifier names. Pictured from left to right: Kamryn Heinz (Shot put), Taylor Maurer (pole vault) and Aleah Stegar (distance)

A year ago, just before the South Dakota state track meet, Ipswich pole vaulter Taylor Maurer had a bad accident while pole-vaulting. That head injury kept her out of the state meet and with her absence the Duebrook Dolphins laid the wood, claiming the Class B girls title, outdistancing Ipswich, 84-58.5 as the Tigers finished in the runner-up position.

While the Tigers have plenty of good sprinters, most of them team up on the relays where every single Ipswich team has already pre-qualified for the state meet.

Going to take a look at the list of state qualifiers here in a second, but FIRST, a MASSIVE shout out to the Ipswich coaching staff for getting the most out of their athletes and getting their athletes to go our for a sport that ultimately makes you better at other sports.
